Waiting for a premium Redmi smartphone? Here’s what to expect from the long-awaited Redmi’s Snapdragon 855 powered device. Xiaomi earlier this year announced making Redmi an independent sub-brand. As part of new strategy, Redmi will foray into premium smartphone segment with phones featuring the flagship chipsets from Qualcomm.
Since the sub-brand announcement, Xiaomi has launched phones like Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Y3 among others, all upgrades to 2018 models. Now, fresh details about Redmi’s premium phone with Snapdragon 855 processor have emerged online. Redmi’s next premium phone will feature a big 6.39-inch screen. The onboard Snapdragon 855 SoC will be coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB built-in storage, according to a GizmoChina report. The smartphone will sport a 32-megapixel selfie camera. Interestingly enough, Xiaomi’s Redmi Y3 also sports the same front-facing camera resolution. On the back, the premium Redmi phone has a triple rear camera setup,
including a 48-megapixel primary sensor and 8-megapixel and 13-megapixel secondary and third sensors. The primary sensor is expected to be same Redmi Note 7 Pro’s Sony IMX586 48-megapixel sensor. Other expected features of the new Redmi phone are 3.5mm headphone jack and NFC support.
While the new Redmi phone may sport high-end specifications, it’s unlikely to be expensive. The pricing of the smartphone could be similar to Poco’s which offers a high-end premium phone with affordable price tag. Poco F1 is still one of the cheapest phones in the market to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor.
